World War II

What do think was the major cause of World War II? Was it Dictators, Depression, or the Treaty of Versailles? What objectives did the countries try to accomplish in the European and Pacific theatres of action? Why do you think that the people of Germany, Italy, and Japan were so willing to do the unthinkable for their Leaders? Discuss, demonstrate and learn using this blog.

Yes, Stalin definitely killed more even though Hitler is more known for his cruelty. Along with Stalin and Hitler was Tojo who tortured the Chineses as bad as Hitler treated the Jews.

WWII was a horrible time for the people living in Europe as well as for the people living in the U.S. Millions of people were displaced from their homes and murdered just for their ethnicity; it was quite unfortunate.

Behold! Hitler was a visionary, partially evil, kinda insane, but visionary nonetheless. a little known fact is that he actually offered to send the jews to america on luxury ships, but roosevelt wouldn't take them, so then he sent them to concentration camps. the war was not really influenced by one fact or the other, you needed all of them to make the war happen.

Go Hitler
here is one of his speeches
MUNICH, GATHERING OF THE SA

SPEECH OF NOVEMBER 9, 1921

On November 9, 1921--just five days after the Battle of the Hall (Saalschlacht) where fewer than fifty SA Men had beaten back more than 400 communists and Jews who had tried to disrupt Hitler's speech in the Festival Hall of the Hofbrauhaus--Adolf Hitler addressed a gathering of SA Men. The following is what he told them:

For us there are only two possiblities: either we remain German or we come under the thumb of the Jews. This latter must not occur; even if we are small, we are a force. A well-organized group can conquer a strong enemy. If you stick close together and keep bringing in new people, we will be victorious over the Jews.

I think the treaty of versailles caused the war because that drove Germany into depression which made hitler mad. Also dictators because Stalin and Benito made mass empires which wanted to take more and more power.

who here thinks that hitler had good ideas, but was a horrible man?

Matin said...

there never was any one cause of WWII. everything that happened was a response to preveous events. everyone that was supporting Hitler believed that he was going to save the country. the people of germany only saw what Hitler wanted them to see. he used his power to control the people and convince them that everyone is out to get them and they must defend thamself. Mussolini used his peoples wanting for more power and for the roman empire to persuade them to fight.

WWII didn't start because of Jews or anything like that, it was because Germany wanted more land. Mussolini wanted an empire, too, as did Japan.

DeltaKai said...

the germans were really stupid cuz they decidesd to attack the USSR when they had a treaty w/ them.

Emma said...

Also, the French thought that the Germans could not get through the Ardennes. They were wrong.

Unknown said...

Hitler also wanted to restore the German Empire, and unite all German speaking people.

Emma said...

yeah. germany would have won the war if they didn't hate everyone (the Russians, etc.)

Unknown said...

Hitler needed some friends to tell him to not attack Russia.

*cAiTLiN* said...

The world war started because Hitler was mad about the treaties that ended WWI and he was out for revenge.

Unknown said...

i think all three-dictators, depression, and treaty, each had a part in the start of WW2. dictators were greedy, power-loving people, the great depression over here allowed germany to get more power, and the treaty made germany feel really bad about itself and it also made the soviet feel pretty crappy too.

*cAiTLiN* said...

If Germany would've united with the other loons of the time things would've gotten really ugly and we'd all have lost.

kabston said...

I think that WWII was caused by treaty of Versailles because with the treaty Germany wasn't suppost to build an army but Hitler didn't listen and build an army anyway.

"KATY iS AMAZiNG" -George Washington said...

I think that the Germans, Italians, and Japanese were willing to do anything for their leaders for many reasons. The first being that, especially the Japanese, were expected to be brave and especially loyal to their country. They would rather have committed suicide that have been captured. Along with that, the Japanese were loyal to their leaders- willing to do anything- because they were in an economical standstill and therefore they were willing to do whatever it took to restore their country's wellbeing.

Unknown said...

as soon as hitler and mussolini started building their armies, the League just talked to them about it. it was nothing more than a slap on the wrist. they should've taken drastic action and stopped them while they could have. instead, they just let hitler and mussolini do whatever they wanted. so ww2 is in huge part the fault of the League of Nations

mhalle said...

blaim Germany, Italy, Japan, and the horrible job the League of Nations did

~AlliE_IzZy~ said...

There was more than one cause of the war. The totalitarian and nationalism governments and their dictators like Hitler and Mussolini were a cause because they were power hungry. Also, if the Treaty of Versailles did not heavily blame germany for WWI, they would not be such a ticking time bomb.

~AlliE_IzZy~ said...

The League of Nations' lack of power also had a great affect on the war. If they had more power, they would have been able to prevent the dictators more.

kabston said...

Halle might be right about something for once

"KATY iS AMAZiNG" -George Washington said...

where's NATO and the UN in all of this mess anyways??

I think that the Treaty of Versailles created the rift that caused WWII in Europe, and economical struggles caused the aggression in Southeastern Asia. The dictators and depression only furthered each country's need for growth. In Europe, the Germans felt discriminated against and took their revenge out on the world, that had mistreated them, and unfairly accused of starting WWII. The Italians felt as if they were being left behind due to the fact that they had had the most powerful empire in the world, the Roman Empire. The Japanese needed economical growth, and thought the only way to gain it was to invade Southeastern Asia.

So really, WWII is not any specific country's fault, it was just a poorly chosen step in the road to reaching each country's roaring age.

WWII was a very bloody and deadly war. There were 3 evil dictators that wanted to control their portion of the world. Hopefully it wont happen again.

Theresa said...

WII was a horrible time there were so many dictators with the need for power and we were in a depression. Everyone wanted land and power and the treaty of versailles pretty much just made people mad. Obey or die does anyone need more reason to follow a dictator?

RoB said...

To me it seems that Germany just wanted more power in everthing. They had no reason except strong power. This could have easily be avoided if we had created a stronger League of Nations. This world needs to unite. I know it sounds cheesy, but if we had better world power we could have taken them out right away. Also, if all countries were a part of League of Nations. We could have talked these war problems, out

Erica said...

Yes, Hitler was quite the land hungry man there. He wanted to unite all the German-speaking people. And I finally know what Anschluss means! Oh, Sound of Music...

colleen16 said...

Ok, so I think that the dictators were the reason for all of our mass chaos. The reason people didn't try and stop them is because they were afraid of the dictators. Hitler, for example, was the kind of person who would totally flip out if you messed with him and his ways, therefore, none of the Germans did anything to fight against him.

ewest11 said...

i think WWII is to be blamed on the dictators of the countries. they treated all of their citizens horribly (hitler and stalin specificly) this war could have been avoided if all of the dictators would have just agreed to pacts like germany and the soviet union did in the nonaggression pact. im not saying this war was 100% avoidable but it could have been a little less intense and a little less killing.

sammyp13 said...

to katy, the UN and NATO were not created yet i believe. They were made because of the WW. To bender, man, you need to knock it off. Jew's didn't do anything to you. They were inocent and still are. Your making yourself look like an a real idiot. WWII started because the world was in a depression. there was no cash flow. the germans were embarrased from WWI, the world was at fault here i believe. there was no one reason that WWII began. The dictators were extremists, they also were great talkers. when people have nothing, they need something to dream of and believe in. This is what mussolini, stalin, togo, and hitler made them believe. They were all genius' for their time. WWII i believe can not be repeated without a big worldwide event like the great depression. though i believe the US is target of a lot of countries, Venezuela, Iran, North Korea, China, France, Germany, and many more countries.

PS.
one other note to all on the blog, stop being dumb, Mr. Armstrong can read all this. you do know that right?

Emily C said...

I believe that the soviet Union was the most essential component to World War II. The Soviet Union was ultimately the ones that stopped Hitler. After the Germans had to retreat from the Soviet Union, they began to fall apart. The soviet Union was responsible for the fall of Hitler and the Germans. Without their support, I dont think that the Allies would have won the war.

I feel that World War II was a very sad time for the world. I had always thought that Hitler was a cruel and mean person, and i still think that he is, but i know know that there are people who are just as mean as him.

Theresa said...

sam nice insite

Emily C said...

I also think that the reason people focus more on how many hitler killed than stalin, (even though stalin killed many more) is that America needed the soviet Union's support, and therefore ignored the fact that Stalin slaughtered millions of people.

Erica said...

Ok, if all the countries signed nonagression pacts it would be just like in gym class in elementry school when we would play capture the flag and some kids would say: "if you don't attack me I won't attack you" Which is great for a while but what happens when something snaps--BOOM this country attacks the other one for attacking the first one, then another comes in to defend the second one. Hmmm...this sounds mysteriously like the beggining of WWI

jluk94 said...

I blame the war on the imperialist dictators such as Hitler or Mussolini, who wanted to expand their countries' territory into already established countries. The fact that their own personal greed to expand their empire lead to the killing of many different races such as Jewish People.

People follow these sadistic leaders because they basically have to. If they don't they will be tortured or possibly killed. Others, like people in the military, have to because that is what their job is and that is what they were trained to do.

Erica said...

I agree, emily. Hee hee, rhymes...

WWII was a horrible time and i am very discusted with many of the comments at the begining.

have you guys ever seen the movie "Hotel Rowanda"? it's another genocide very simular to WWII, but it happened alot quicker.
people were being killed because of how they looked and what they beleived.

the darfur week we just had was also a genocide, but more comparable to hotel rowanda.

none of this is funny. we can help out just by learning about it

Emma said...

even if it were not for the specific dictarors, the countries that started the war still would have picked someone crazy to lead them. the US decided to get a "New Deal" after its Depression, but I guess Germany went a bit too far.

Anonymous said...

I think Hitler convinced germany of what World War I was to his people, and they apathized with him. After Hitler knew he had the desired effect. he convinced Germany of how to reclaim Germany's former glory, and was given the power he need as fuhrer

Anonymous said...

forgot to mention, after WWI was over germany was forced to take full blame for the war, which was stated in the treaty of versailles. This angered many germans and was one of the reasons Germans banned together behind Hitler

Dictators were the main cause of the war. Greed and ambition lead them to want more power, more land. In Hitler's case, the greed would not be satisfied until he had the entire world under his control. A great sense of nationalism lead the people of these countries to follow any orders given by their leaders. They would see their country win, rather than have mercy on another nation.

the start of the war was largely due to all of the facters leading to the war, including dictators, the depression and the treaty. Dicta
